Okinawa is Japan's beach paradise
The Okinawan island chain is a wonderful blend of the native Ryukyu culture and Japanese beach life. Whether you plan to stay on the main island or explore one of the other hundreds of islands, beach combers from all over can find a place to roll out the towel and enjoy the tropical breeze.
Take a dive at one of Okinawa's reefs.
The perfect climate in Okinawa makes a great opportunity for divers to visit one of the many reefs surrounding the islands. For those that aren't SCUBA certified, there are a multitude of dive companies with English speaking instructors that can guide you on your own reef adventure.
Find an empty beach at Yaeyama
The Yaeyama Islands, a collection of small islands closer to Taiwan than Okinawa Proper, are one of the most isolated places in Japan. Because of this, the tropical paradise is perfect for people that want to experience true privacy at the beach.
Gaze in amazement at the OKinawa Aquarium
Located in Okinawa's largest city Naha, the aquarium is the largest in Japan and contains one of the biggest tanks in the world. Many local species are contained within the large tank to include whale sharks.
